2010 represents VFI's 10th year of work in Laos and 7th in Cambodia.During this period,we have worked in almost 200 remote and vulnerable villages, focusing on local leadership development in an effort to bring about positive social change. Learn more about VFI Programs.
INVESTING IN LOCAL LEADERS
VFI is built upon the leadership of well-trained, dynamic and motivated local staff. Lao and Cambodian people, like those in every country, are uniquely invested in the long-term well-being of their own communities. They understand the needs and priorities for development, as well as the most effective strategies to achieve them. They too often, however, lack critical technical skills and resources. The marriage of local leadership and international support is the most effective way to address long term capacity building as well as immediate development needs. | ANGKOR WAT BIKE RACE & RALLY |
VFI is proud to host the 5th Annual Angkor Wat Bike Race & Rally in 2010 , among the most unique athletic events in the world. In 2008, 300 bikers and over 2700 runners from 43 countries joined VFI and our partner, Hearts of Gold, to bike, run and walk through Angkor Wat’s temples, rice fields and local villages to raise funds in support of land mine victims and VFI projects in Cambodia. Did we mention the passing elephants and buttery croissants at the awards breakfast reception?
