Fellowship for Youth in Community Development (FYCD)

Goal: To empower the next generation of Cambodian advocates by providing an opportunity for university students interested in community action to
spend one year living with rural community leaders to share and develop
skills related to community organizing and social change.

Context:
Young Cambodians want to change their country by removing
corruption and improve civil society without fear. This fellowship enables youth to become knowledgable leaders of society by building relationships
with rural villagers to witness and address the political, social, and economic inequalities they face.

Target Group:
University students in Battambang, Cambodia and rural
villagers nationwide

 

OUTPUTS & SUCCESSES

  • 16 Cambodian university students per year build leadership
    skills and the capacity to address issues affecting their country

  • 25 community leaders empowered to make voices heard and build civil society

  • Socioeconomic differences are bridged as university youth
    are exposed to issues facing poor, rural communities

  • Cambodia becomes independent of foreign
    aid and development wrkers in the coming generation
