Indigenous Cambodian Support Organisation (ICSO)

Goal: To support a network and training program to inform indigenous people on their land rights and provide solutions enabling them to protect their traditional lands, culture and livelihoods.

Context: Indigenous people in northeastern Cambodia face new threats due to illegal development, logging, and land concessions despite recent legal reforms. They lack awareness of their new legal right to protect their lands and traditions. This project supports trainings for a growing network of village leaders who educate their communities, defend their land and hold officials accountable.

Target Group: Ethnic minority communities living in northeastern Cambodia

OUTPUTS & SUCCESSES

  • Ethnic minorities are educated on their rights to land title, conflict resolution and how to recognize illegal land schemes

  • Local and national network of ethnic groups  are empowered to defend collective rights

  • Indigenous network develops a political voice in partnership
with the international community to confront land and
    resource exploitation

  • Communities have been able to utilize the network to resolve illegal land  sales and reclaim traditional lands
